The Hudson Valley is my home.
My only home. Full time. For years. Not because there is an election coming up. Not because I want to run for office. This is my home for one reason: because I love it. And I don’t plan on leaving.
You know our many strengths. I don’t have to tell you that we have incredible people here, stunning geography and an independent spirit binding us all together no matter our political leanings. You also know our difficulties.
What we do not have is anyone in Congress representing us and working for our best interests.
The current professional political class is so far removed from real life they have almost nothing in common with us. They don’t know our challenges, share our dreams or work on our behalf. They serve other masters – “The Party”, “Big Money”, “Personal Gain” – and only live here when it suits the needs of their political ambitions, then they move on. These people, who say what they think we want to hear just to get into office then vote against our interests, are the reason most people do not like politics. So often it feels futile to participate.
